The mural project that was first introduced to the Woodinville City Council at its March 11 meeting is complete.
The mural was painted by the four members of the muralist group Matamuros, which is made up of Abraham Mong, Zachary Bohnenkamp, Jill Rothenberger and Kevin Sullivan.
The idea for the mural was to use the large brick wall of the Carol Edwards Community Center as the canvas.
The mural begins on the west-facing wall of the Center and wraps around the corner onto the north-facing wall.
The group’s written proposal stated: “This mural combines two traditional mural elements, landscape and ‘trompe l`oeil’ (trick of the eye), to create an exterior scene that appears to be visible through a broken wall. ... We believe that this mural project has the power to transform the Carol Edwards Center and the surrounding area into a more dynamic place that the whole community will enjoy.”
