Cascade Community Theatre and the River City Players will perform “Shrew’d” on the next two weekends in the Duvall and Carnation areas.
“Is this not the age when men are men and women are property?”
This is just one of the questions you¹ll learn the answer to in “Shrew’d,” a hilarious adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” presented for three consecutive weekends by the Cascade Community Theatre and the River City Players.
This production represents many firsts for Cascade Community Theatre. It is their first play to be staged outdoors, the first to run for three consecutive weekends, the first to play at multiple venues, the first to be included in a community festival, and the first to offer all performances free to the public.
“Shrew’d” opened at the annual Sandblast Festival in Duvall on July 19 to an enthusiastic reception by an all-ages audience in McCormick Park.
The weekend of Friday, July 25th and Saturday, July 26th, bring a blanket or lawn chair to see “Shrew’d” on the downtown Carnation Stage across from Hopelink from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each evening.
Saturday, August 2nd, “Shrew’d” will be performed at the beautiful Kokopelli Gardens located at 14520 284th Ave. NE in Duvall. Gates open at 6 p.m.
There’s plenty of room for blankets and lawn chairs, and chairs will be available on site for a small donation.
Musical entertainment will be provided by local singer/songwriter Jeff Zuber starting at 6 p.m. The play will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
“Shrew’d” is irreverent, audience interactive, and just plain fun.
In partnership with the Duvall Cultural Commission, Cascade Community Theatre is a program of the Cascade Performing Arts Council.
