Richard (Dick) Warren BargerRichard (Dick) Warren Barger, age 97, died peacefully on Feb. 2, 2016 in Kirkland, Washington. Dick was born in Lavina, Montana on Jan. 19, 1919; he was raised in Eugene, Oregon. Dick served in the Army and retired as an Army Major after 21 years of service. He fought in Germany and France during WWII, earning a Bronze Star Medal. Dick also had a career at Safeco Insurance Company; retiring in 1977. He was an Eagle Scout, avid fisherman, golfer and Rotary member. Dick married Mary Main in 1956. Together they had two daughters and enjoyed boating, travel and spending time with family and friends.Obituary: BargerDick was preceded in death by his wife Mary. He is survived by his daughters Molly (Evan) Holzknect and Laurie (Cris Rongve) Barger; four grandchildren: Gretchen (Neil) Jones, Liesl (Nick) Gelotte, Sam Rongve and Gabe Rongve; five great-grandchildren: Dante, Dominique and Mila Jones, and Madeline and Ethan Gelotte.The Barger family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Aegis Lodge, Kirkland and the Evergreen Hospice team for their competent and compassionate care of Dick.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dick’s name to the Salvation Army or EvergreenHealth Foundation.A service to honor Dick will be on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Bothell.
