Gladys BerryGladys Wilma Ann Berry went home to the Lord on August 24th, 2016. She was born October 29th, 1928 to Harold and Ellen (Snickars) Peterson. She was a preemie weighing in at just 3 pounds 4 ounces. A great-granddaughter of the pioneer Beckstrom family of Bothell, Gladys grew up in Snohomish, Redmond and Woodinville. She attended Woodinville School, Anderson Junior High and graduated from Bothell High School in 1946. She met the love of her life, Stanley Berry, in the 9th grade and “chased him till he caught her.” They were married at the Bothell Methodist Church on April 3rd, 1948.Gladys ran a beauty shop out of her Woodinville home for 21 years while raising a family of three sons. Later, she and Stan owned and operated Berry’s Floor Décor in Woodinville. She was an energetic and social person, and was always involved in community activities. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for her two oldest boys; served as President of the Woodinville Heritage Society; and she taught Sunday School for 14 years. She was a lifelong and active member of Woodinville Community Methodist Church.She was also an excellent seamstress and cook, and it gave her great joy to be the “cookie grandma”, to share garden produce and baked goods with friends and neighbors, and to make Christmas crafts and wooden toys and puzzles with Stan. She especially loved playing bridge with her dear friends.Gladys is survived by her husband of 68 years, Stanley Berry, Sr. of Bothell; son Bradley of Olympia; brother Donald Peterson of Camano Island; grandchildren Joey Johnsen, Brian Henderson, Stein Berry, Michelle Berry, Kate Berry-Kanter, Josh Condon, Jeromy Condon, Sean Berry and Michael Berry. She is also survived by eight adored great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons Stan, Jr. and Wes.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on September 10th at the Woodinville Community Methodist Church.
