Obituary: Sonne

William "Bill" Reid Sonne, SrWilliam “Bill” Reid Sonne, Sr, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 in Edmonds, Wash. at the age of 79 after a lengthy battle with dementia and diabetes.Bill was born on April 16, 1937 in Seattle, to Georgianna and William Carlton Sonne. He attended Ballard High School and began a lifetime passion for Radio Communications at an early age earning the call sign “WB6BG7.”Obituary: SonneFollowing high school, Bill joined the Naval Air Reserve servicing radio equipment. In 1961, he held the position of supervisor at the Nestle Chocolate Co., leaving for a position with Boeing in 1966. In the 70s, he was a Traffic Signal Controller for the city of Bellevue, and served in the Seattle Police Reserves. He then continued as a Pace Radio Technician, and held positions at Loral, and Lockheed Martin. In the mid-80s, Bill began an extended stay in Germany in service to the Navy. Following his return in the late 90s, Bill settled in Omak, Wash., where he was active on the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Posse Search and Rescue.In addition to radio communications, Bill enjoyed classical music, scuba diving, snow skiing, boating and classic cars. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and will be greatly missed.He is survived by his children, William “Bill” Sonne, Jr, of Granite Falls, Wash., and Greg Sonne of Bremerton, Wash. Grandchildren, Nichole (Jamie) Damen, Marysville, Wash., Sean Sonne, Lake Stevens, Wash., Justin Sonne of Malo, Wash., and Great-Granddaughter, Charity Damen of Marysville, Wash. His brother, Barry Sonne of Mukilteo, and nephews, Barry Sonne, Jr, Brad Sonne, and niece Starr.Dad, We love you. 73, 88, as WB6BG7 clear.
