Donna Jean (Evans) Larsen

Donna Jean (Evans) LarsenDonna was born on Aug. 21, 1945 in Virginia, but spent most of her childhood in Edmonds, Wash.She graduated from nursing school at the University of Washington in 1967. The first few years of her career were spent at Seattle Children’s Hospital. She then transitioned to public health and spent the rest of her career serving the community as a public health nurse with the Snohomish Health Department. Nursing was not only her profession, it was her true calling and passion.Donna married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) C. Larsen on Oct. 3, 1969. Bob and Donna were married for 47 years before he passed away in March of 2016. Their marriage was filled with love of family, friends, children and animals. They raised their family of three girls (along with numerous cats, a dog and a few rabbits) in Woodinville, Wash. Life was spent exploring the northwest, camping, snow skiing, waterskiing, and in their later years, traveling the world.Donna loved life on Camano Island surrounded by the water and views of the mountains. She ingrained herself as part of the community as an active member of the Yacht Club, Garden Club, and several other social groups on the island. She was also a founding and lifelong member of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Dorothy H. Johnson Guild. She was dedicated to their mission to raise money and support access to service at Seattle Children’s Hospital.Donna was a caretaker at heart. She was often the person her friends and family turned to for comfort, advice and as the go-to on-call nurse for questions about newborns, sore throats, an odd looking rash and other medical mysteries. She is survived by her three daughters, Aimee Larsen Kirkpatrick (David), Rebecca Larsen, and Michelle Johnson (Josh), her two granddaughters Isana and Katherine, and her two cats Tater and Lulu. She is also survived by her siblings Carol Speaker, Jim Evans, Steve Evans, Bert Evans and many nieces and nephews.A celebration of Donna’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 24th at Camano Lutheran Church followed by a reception at the Camano Center.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Donna’s name to Seattle Children’s Hospital ( http://www.seattlechildrens.org/ways-to-help/donate/honor-loved-one/)
