Rose Frances Lewesky

Rose Frances Lewesky, age 93 of Woodinville, WA, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the home of her daughter, Tina. In the few days prior to her death, she was surround by her family and friends whom she loved and her dog Poncho.Rose Frances LeweskyUpon Peter’s return, they moved back to New Jersey to start their married life. Peter worked as a chemical engineer and Rose became a house wife. Peter and Rose became involved with their hobby of showing dogs and attending obedience trials. Her love of dogs continued to the day she died. After the death of two infant children, Rose and Peter adopted their daughter Tina (Christina) who also became involved in their hobby. Their greatest honor was to have owned the top producing Golden Retriever in the country for several years and to be known as an honorable breeder and supporter of the breed. In 1987, Peter’s work was transferred to Ashtabula, Ohio and they made their home on a small gentlemen’s farm in Jefferson, Ohio. Rose continued to show and bred Golden Retrievers and then Manchester Terriers. Rose and Peter loved the farm and farm life as they raised their own cattle and harvested vegetables from their large garden. Rose was active in many local groups and brought food to people who could no longer leave their home. She also became an activist for illegal dumping of hazardous waste after their home’s ground water became contaminated by the waste of oil and gas wells.After retiring, Peter and Rose decided to move to the West Coast for a better climate. They moved to Woodinville in 1987 along with their daughter Tina and her husband Steve. In 1993, they welcomed their only grandchild Merideth to the world who quickly became the center of their attention. Not wanting to sit home after Merideth began school, Rose, in her early 80’s became a product demonstrator at many of the local stores and supermarkets. She loved meeting and talking with people. After Peter’s death in 2010, Rose moved to Brittany Park and then to Woodin Creek Apartments. She loved the independence of her apartment and the ability to continue her love of baking. We doubt there was ever a time when a homemade meal or baked good was not ready for anyone dropping by. Among her other hobbies, Rose enjoyed fishing, needlework, and reading. The walls of her apartment held many of her original artworks that had been displayed and won ribbons at county fairs.Rose is survived by her daughter Tina and her husband Steve Stroh, granddaughter Merideth Stroh, nephew Richard (Peggy) Mance of Delaware and niece Diann (Walter) Nowatka and their children plus many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter (2010) and sisters Josephine Famalie (2010) and Lillian Mance (1938). In lieu of flowers or other sentiments, Rose would have asked that those so inclined to hug and love their pet or make a contribution to their local animal shelter in memory of her.
