Charles (Chuck) Eric Nelson

Charles (Chuck) Eric NelsonChuck was born in Sweden in 1913. At age 18 months he moved to Tacoma where he eventually married and started a family. Later he moved to Fife where he raised his family. He was employed by the North Star Glove Company for 50 years (1932-1982) as a plant foreman and leather supervisor. In recent years he resided in Woodinville, near his daughter, Penny.

Chuck enjoyed many years of deer hunting with friends and salmon fishing in the Sound and at Westport. He was a member of the Meridian Riding Club where he had many friends. In his later years, he developed a woodworking hobby and made furniture and chessboards for all his grandchildren. Chuck was also an avid Mariner’s fan. He could hardly wait for the season to start and was disappointed at the closing of it.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan E. Nelson, and his daughter, Michele (Vince) Fassola, his five brothers and one sister.

He is also survived by his sister, Marie Angus of Vancouver, Wash., his daughters, Shannon (Claude) McClanahan of Rochester, Wash., Laurel, (Ernie) Corral of Denver, Colo., Penny (Bill) McDonald, Woodinville, and Eileen Nelson of San Maudez, France, and his grandchildren, Scott (Kaylee) McDonald, Eric (Amy) McDonald, Lori McDonald, Tracy Smaciaz, Melissa Hogensen and Simon Bellamy and his great-grandchildren, Jaide, Taylor, Zoe, Zachary, Bronwyn, Devon and Hunter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews of whom he was very fond.

Chuck was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family above everything.

Chuck had a long, healthy and happy life and a great sense of humor. He loved to tell stories of his life of which we all have fond memories. He will be greatly missed.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park on Sunday, August 22, at 1 p.m.
