Jim "Jimmy" Norton: 1956 - 2021

Our brother Jim had a full life. Born to Dorothy and James Norton, he was raised in Woodinville,Wash.

Throughout his life, he faced his joys and challenges with uncommon grace. He attended the Northshore School District through his graduation from Bothell High School in 1976. A longtime member of Bothell First Lutheran, he actively participated in worship services and various groups.

Jim and his family engaged in many outdoor activities. Together they enjoyed fishing, boating, picnicking, and other excursions around the Pacific Northwest. He took many train trips and visited family living in other parts of the United States. Jim also traveled to Europe, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Jim had many passions in his life, his friends bringing him the most joy. He always greeted them with great enthusiasm and made them really feel appreciated. He enjoyed the Seattle Thunderbird hockey team, TV game shows, and Scottish bagpipe music.

Jim had numerous pleasures and talents, including an uncanny memory for all things important to him. He remembered names, faces, and telephone numbers, as well as the schedules for various forms of public transportation. He remembered events in his life with such clarity that sometimes family members would ask him for details they wished to remember. He loved to talk with friends on the phone, committing their number to memory and dialing it often just to say hello.

Over the years Jim held a variety of jobs from dishwasher to storefront greeter. His laughter, gregarious personality and enjoyment of life brought smiles to those around him.

Jim loved everyone.

Jim’s passing leaves us with great memories and many who will miss him. He is survived by his brother Edwin Norton and his wife Caryn, and their children Rayn Joy, Josiah James, Cypress Solomon, Caleb Edwin, and Ezekiel Joachim; his brother Andrew Norton and his wife Anita; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial for Jim is scheduled for Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10:30 am at Bothell First Lutheran Church, followed immediately by remembrances and a lunch reception at the Crystal Lake Clubhouse in Woodinville, Wash.
