Woodinville Elections | Best-Campbell and Wise go head-to-head for city council position 3

by Weekly staff

Housing, growth and sustainability dominate this key contest

In the race for the Woodinville City Council Position No. 3 seat, incumbent Rachel Best-Campbell is challenged by Amber Wise in a contest that will help shape how Woodinville manages growth, housing, and community development in the coming years.
Best-Campbell, first elected in 2019, highlights her track record in public service and her focus on sustainable development, accessible infrastructure, and neighborhood-driven planning. According to her campaign website, she emphasizes achievements such as the Greenbrier and Wood Trails projects, new sidewalks, and pedestrian safety improvements.
She states her main goal is "logical growth without sacrificing the unique character of our neighborhoods." She highlights safe walking routes, support for small businesses, and keeping property taxes manageable as her top priorities.
Best-Campbell’s campaign states it is self-funded and does not accept outside donations, reflecting her dedication to independent representation of Woodinville residents.
On the other hand, Amber Wise introduces herself as a new voice dedicated to inclusive leadership, community organizing, and green neighborhood design. Her campaign website states she is a mom, a public-spaces commissioner, and a union organizer who has been part of Woodinville since 2020.
Wise highlights three key issues: affordable housing, transportation and access, and parks, trails, and green spaces. Her platform advocates for housing options downtown that enable families, seniors, and workers to succeed locally; improved transit, bike-, and walk-friendly infrastructure; and more accessible nature across all neighborhoods.
While both candidates agree that Woodinville must carefully manage growth, their approaches differ: Best-Campbell emphasizes completing existing infrastructure, preserving neighborhood character, and resisting overdevelopment; Wise supports a more proactive reshaping of downtown housing, mobility, and community amenities to meet future needs.
The winner of this contest will serve a four-year term on the seven-member city council, which oversees local budgeting, land-use decisions, and public infrastructure in Woodinville. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5, 2025, with ballots mailed out in mid-October and results certified by late November.
