Gerald J MartinellA lifelong Washingtonian, Gerry was born January 9, 1940, in Snoqualmie to Joe and Cleo (the best parents a guy could wish for).They soon moved to Everett where Gerry attended Immaculate Conception through the 8th grade. He graduated from Everett High with the class of 57 — go Seagulls!Gerry was proud of his school and was very active in planning parties and picnics with Denny and the reunion committee.He joined the Army at 18. He attended Everett Community College for several quarters.Gerry was preceded in death by both his mom and his special Aunt Jean — two very devastating events in Gerry’s life.He also dealt with the passing of his uncles, Art (Snoqualmie), Frank (Eastern Washington) and many of his 1957 classmates.Gerry met Pat in 1990 and they married in 2001.Gerry, Pat and her son Jason moved to Duvall in1995 where life, though quiet, was good. Gerry accepted Jason as his son and Jason is proud to be a Martinell.Gerry chose meat cutting as his profession; he was a true artist.When asked how he could create such beautiful steaks and roasts, his answer was “I learned from the best, my dad.”He was a perfectionist until Jason taught him differently. An avid sports nut, Gerry maintained control of the TV. There was always a game of some kind on. He loved baseball and basketball, both of which he played in school. His favorite teams were the Mariners and Gonzaga.Gerry is survived by his dad, Joe, to whom he was very devoted; wife, Pat, the love of his life; children, Jason (and future daughter-in-law Maria), Debbie, Monica, Danny, Angela; grandchildren, Trevor, Darren, Megan, Mathew; his puppy, Bae Li; uncles, Ted, Bill, Clayton; cousins, Bruce, Larry and Joe with whom he enjoyed weekly (weather permitting) golf games and playing poker with “the boys” in Snoqualmie; and other family and friends.Please join us as we remember him and celebrate the life Gerry had on Sunday, March 17 at 3 p.m. at the clubhouse of the Duvall Highlands Mobile Home Park in Duvall.In lieu of flowers, please bring stories and memories of Gerry as these will be greatly appreciated.Alcohol is not permitted on the premises.
