Rosalie Alice Lewis

Rosalie Alice LewisShe married Ray Fleek in 1938. They spent their early married years in Glendale, Calif., where their children Wayne, Ray, Gary and Jim were born. The family moved to Seattle in 1947 where daughter Lee was born. They owned and operated Ray’s Corral, a family restaurant in the Wallingford District. Rosalie also taught school at Horace Mann for eight years.The family moved to Cottage Lake in 1962 where they opened a second restaurant, the Casa Ranchero, at the top of the hill in Woodinville in 1963, and Rosalie began to teach at Cottage Lake Elementary.Ray passed away in 1968. Rosalie completed a masters degree in library science at the University of Washington in 1970.In 1972 she married Norman Kirsop and acquired two wonderful stepdaughters.Norman passed away in 1977.That same year Rosalie was awarded the Golden Acorn Award for outstanding community service. Rosalie retired as the school librarian in 1980.After retiring, she traveled the world with friends, family and with MMAP (Mobile Missions Assistance Program) building schools and churches in remote locations and developing friendships that endured for many years.Rosalie wintered in Arizona. She loved the warm weather and the lifestyle of living in a retirement community.In 1992 she married Wilson (Bill) Lewis, a fellow snowbird and acquired another fine daughter and more grandchildren. They shared many happy years together until Bill passed away in 2004.Rosalie will be fondly remembered for her zest for life, her friendly outgoing nature, her ever-present positive outlook, her love of family and her beautiful pressed pansy cards.Rosalie was preceded in death by her loving husbands, Ray E. Fleek, Norman Kirsop and Wilson (Bill) Lewis.She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Henry Hagen Jr., her son, Jim and by her stepdaughter, Kathy Burnett.Rosalie is survived by her sister, Janyce Morgan; her sons, Wayne (Skip) and his wife Judy, Ray (Bud) and his wife Marilyn, Gary and his wife Betsy; her daughter, Rosalie (Lee) and her husband Eric; her stepdaughters, Carolyn Tokstad and Marjorie Kunkle; her daughter in law, Sally Maimoni; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many friends and people that she inspired.The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff at Fairwinds - Brittany Park in Woodinville where Rosalie spent seven happy years before moving to the home of her daughter in Oakville, Wash., last August.A memorial service to honor Rosalie followed by a gathering of friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church at 11 a.m. 17856 NE Woodinville Duvall Road, Woodinville, WA 98077.In lieu of flowers, please send remembrances to a charity of your choice.
