Patricia Phyllis Kendall

Patricia Phyllis Kendall, St. John resident, passed away Dec. 31, 2009, at Whitman Hospital in Colfax following an apparent heart attack at her home. She was 84. Patricia was born Aug. 22, 1925, in Salem, Ore., to James and Cora (Hollis) Sovereign. She was raised and educated in the Bothell area and graduated from Issaquah High School in 1944. During her senior year, she was named champion student orator for the state of Washington and competed on the national level in Los Angeles. Patricia attended the University of Washington. She married Thomas Kendall July 1, 1945, after he returned from serving in the South Pacific. They bought a home in Woodinville but also traveled extensively. In 1967 they returned to Woodinville.

Patricia worked in the clerical/secretary field for Boeing, the Woodinville School District and the Woodinville Water District before retiring. The couple moved to St. John about 15 years ago and have enjoyed retirement living there since. They also spent some winters in Bullhead City, Ariz.

Patricia enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and entertaining.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; daughter, Gina LaMar of Snohomish; son, Kevin Kendall of Duvall; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and her brother, Carroll Sovereign of Almira, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Memorials are suggested to a charity of donor’s choice. At this time no public services are planned.
