William Earl "POP" Potter

William Earl "POP" PotterBill was born on Dec. 31, 1930 in Mercer Township, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Alexander and Susannah Potter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Garnet Alene (Grover) Potter; his brother James Potter and sister Betty (Potter) Barnes.

Bill is survived by his daughters; Bunny Fisher of Port Richey, Florida; Penny (Steve) Unger of Monroe, Wash.; son Peter (Shelley) Hart of Cranberry Township, Penn.; and daughter Tracy (Eric) Scott of Duvall, Wash; 12 grandchildren; Stacy, Scott, Timothy, Micah, Abigail, Emily, Sarah, Zachary, Alena, Nikita, Chelsea and Dalton; three great grandchildren; Rachel, Avery and Chloe and one great-great grandchild; Jeremy.

Bill graduated from Wesley High School, with straight A’s, in 1947. He joined the Army Reserves after graduation and served in Germany for two years as a field artillery cannoneer with the rank of sergeant.

After the war and three months of courtship, Bill married his life love, Garnet, on May 29, 1954 in Slippery Rock, Penn. Bill resided in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Florida and finally, Duvall, Wash.

Bill worked in the Teamsters Union as a truck driver, hauling cement. He later worked for Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission and later drove a tour bus. He was a member of The American Legion and The Duvall Church. He enjoyed singing Barber Shop, dates to live theater, high school sporting events, long drives and family and friends.

Bill’s motto in life was to do something kind for someone every day. Bill was a wonderful father, grandpa and friend; he will be greatly missed.
