Patsy Randall

Patsy Randall of Bothell, formerly of Bellevue, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland. She was 83.

Patsy was born January 10, 1927, in Hagerstown, Md., to Helen Margaret Chaney. She was raised in Hagerstown where she graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1945. Following high school, Patsy continued her education at Washington County Hospital, earning her nursing degree in 1947.

In 1947, Patsy took a job as a registered nurse at the Veteran’s Hospital in Louisville, Ky., and later in New Albany, Ind., with Dr. Wolf. It was during her work at the Veteran’s Hospital that she met her future husband, James Randall.

On June 16, 1948, Patsy and James Randall returned to Hagerstown to be wed. They began their family nine months later with the birth of the first of their six children. In 1958 the couple relocated to Bellevue with their five children for employment with Boeing.

There, they completed their family with the birth of their sixth child in 1960.

In her leisure time, Patsy enjoyed cooking, quilting, crafts, gardening, leading bible studies and spending time with her family.

Patsy was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Church in High Point, as well as other churches in the area over the years.

She is remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved telling stories, especially about the Vet Hospital and the patient who became her husband.

Even more, she is known for her warm hospitality and her welcoming and open personality. She often opened her home to others in need.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, James Randall; children, Connie Lacy (Ernie) of Albuquerque, N.M.; Tom Randall (Julie) of Lynnwood; Tim Randall of Bellevue; Becky Venable of Duvall; Melissa Mortenson (Scott) of Bothell, Bob Randall (Kris) of Sammamish; 16 grandchildren; 13+ great grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
